Arena originates from the Latin “harena”, meaning sand, and historically referred to the enclosed central space of Roman amphitheatres. Over time, it came to describe any clearly defined area shaped and contained by a surrounding edge.

In this project, the name refers directly to the elevated border of the tabletop, which frames and contains the surface, giving it a clear sense of boundary and definition.
